SCHÖNOX® SHP Special Acrylic Primer

SCHÖNOX SHP Special Acrylic Primer is designed for use on smooth and non-porous substrates on walls and floors. It is used prior to installing SCHÖNOX underlayments on ceramic tiles, old vinyl, linoleum, and rubber coverings.

SCHÖNOX SHP Special Acrylic Primer improves bond and offers high coverage rates. No mixing/dilution is required—apply straight from package. 

This low-odor, solvent-free product dries in as little as 1–2 hours, offering very short waiting times, ensuring projects are not unnecessarily delayed. 

NOTE: SCHÖNOX SHP is not a vapor barrier. This primer will allow the free passage of moisture.

SCHÖNOX SHP is suitable for use as a primer on a variety of substrates, including:

• Smooth and sound substrates (e.g., terrazzo, ceramic tiles, natural stone coverings)
• Epoxy-based damp-proof membranes
• Old coatings and sealings
• Old, smooth, and sound concrete surfaces
• Metal substrates (e.g., channeled plate)
• Well-fitted vacuumed and sanded vinyl, linoleum, and rubber coverings in domestic areas
• Thermoplastic and semi-flexible tiles
• Floor heating systems
• Well-fitted quartz-vinyl coverings
• Old, water-resistant adhesive residues in domestic and commercial areas

NOTE: SCHÖNOX SHP is not suitable on polyolefin and floor coverings with PU-sealings that are not removable with basic detergent chemicals. If in doubt, test a small inconspicuous area prior to application to entire surface.

*All values are approximate at 65 °F floor temperature, are subject to local climatic fluctuations and vary according to the absorbency of the substrate and to the applicator device. Lower temperatures will lengthen the working and curing time, higher temperatures may shorten it significantly. Do not install underlayment or topping before the substrate has dried thoroughly.
