Product Description

This ready-to-use, solvent-free acrylic primer is especially suitable for use on calcium-sulfate-based substrates (gypsum) as well as to bind residual dust and improve adhesion prior to installing luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) on suitable substrates using the SCHÖNOX ROLL AND GO™ adhesive.

 

SCHÖNOX KH FIX offers high coverage rates and short waiting times. This rapid-drying primer is ideal for use on both interior and exterior floors and walls. It is also suitable for use on floor heating systems.

 

This solvent-free primer is fast film building and low odor. It is rated EMICODE® EC 1PLUS for very low emissions.

 

SCHÖNOX KH FIX is suitable on:

  • Gypsum based substrates
  • Concrete, cement based substrates
  • Old water-resistant adhesive residues
  • Particle board, OSB board, wood
  • Gypsum board (walls)
  • SCHÖNOX self-leveling compounds, preferably SCHÖNOX AP, or smooth porous concrete prior to installing LVT using the SCHÖNOX ROLL AND GO™ adhesive following the referring product data sheet

    • Waiting Time:
      • Approx. 10 minutes on concrete, cement-based substrates
      • Approx. 10 min prior to use SCHÖNOX AP or APF on gypsum-based substrates
      • Approx. 30 min on old, water-resistant adhesive residues
      • Approx. 1 hour prior to use cement-based underlayments or thinsets on SCHÖNOX AP and APF, but 3 hours on any other gypsum substrate
      • Approx. 1 hour on wood, OSB, particle board, and gypsum board (walls)

 

*All values are approximate at 65°F floor temperature, are subject to local climatic fluctuations and vary according to the absorbency of the substrate and to the applicator device. Lower temperatures will lengthen the working and curing time, higher temperatures may shorten it significantly. Do not install underlayment or topping before the substrate has dried thoroughly.

Usage

Coverage:

  • Approx 300 – 500 sq. ft. per unit of 1.3 gallons on strong absorbent and gypsum substrates
  • Approx 1,300 – 1,400 sq. ft. per unit of 1.3 gallons when used as a primer with Schönox Roll and Go™ adhesive (using the Schönox KH Fix Roller)
  • Approx 540 sq ft per 2 units of .25 gallons when used as a primer as part of the Schönox Roll and Go™ Set (units are included in the set)

 

Drying Time:

  • Approx 10 minutes on cement based substrates
  • Approx 30 – 60 minutes on water resistant, calcium sulfate substrates and Schönox AP
  • Approx 60 minutes on water resistant, gypsum plaster
  • Approx 10 minutes on gypsum board
  • Approx 60 minutes on old, water resistant adhesive residues
  • Approx 60 minutes on particleboard, OSB board
