Product Description

Rapid Set® Acrylic Primer is a concentrated, solvent free acrylic latex primer that improves the adhesion of Rapid Set® TRU™ Self Leveling to properly prepared concrete. Rapid Set® Acrylic Primer also acts to seal porous concrete surfaces to prevent pinholes and bubbles from forming in the finished surface.

Rapid Set® Acrylic Primer is for use on properly prepared, dry, porous concrete surfaces only. Substrate must be clean, sound, and free of oil, curing compounds, dust, mastic and other bond-breakers.

Recommendation: Mechanically profile surface by hydroblasting, shotblasting, sandblasting, or grinding. Scarifying or acid etching the concrete surface is not recommended.

Usage

Mixing and Application:
Shake well to ensure primer is thoroughly mixed and there is no sediment in container bottom. Add 1 part primer to 1 part water in a clean container. Mix at low speed with a drill and Jiffler type mixing paddle.

Apply primer to substrate and work into the concrete surface with a stiff-bristle push broom. Spread evenly to thoroughly coat surface and avoid any puddling. Maintain materials, surface, and ambient temperatures above 50° F.

For excessively porous or absorbent concrete surfaces double prime the surface with an initial application of primer diluted 3 parts water to 1 part primer, wait 3 hours, then prime normally as above.

Let primed surface dry to a tacky, transparent thin film (min. 3 hrs, max. 24 hrs). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity will extend required minimum drying time. When primer is dry, apply Rapid Set® TRU™ Self Leveling according to instructions on bag.

Surface Preparation:
Substrate must be clean, sound, and free of oil, curing compound, dust, mastic and other bond-breakers. Mechanical methods of surface preparation such as hydroblasting, shotblasting or sandblasting are preferred. Acid etching the substrate is not recommended. Surface must be dry, have a minimum temperature of 50°F and be properly primed.
