Brass piston works at the base of the RX-20 in conjunction with the handle lock assembly. This is an older style but one that is still stocked and used. This plunger is longer than the new style and has a visible collar on one side that isn't present on the new style.
Usage
This piston when engaged by the locking clamp applies steady pressure to the handle arcs and this is how the handle assembly locks in place.
This is an older style plunger, which measures 1.568" as opposed to the new style which measures 1.535". The two can be differenciated by a small collar on the older style making it longer. These are not interchangeable parts, if employing the shorter plunger where a longer one is required the handle won't lock into place.
An upgrade conversion kit is available to change from the old style plunger to the new style plunger (HM-078908-EA). This kit however isn't necessary because this plunger is not a discontinued item.
