Light Smoke Odor
Light smoke odor is generally only confined to a small area and there is an absence of structural damage. Soot residue in the immediate (affected) area will be light or nonexistent.
Basic Method:
- Ensure the source of the odor has been removed.
- If the source of the odor cannot be removed at this time, cover it with poly film to prevent evaporation of any additional odor vapors until total source removal can be completed.
- Spray the area around the source with a smoke odor counteractant, such as OdorX 9-D-9 or FreshWave IAQ.
- Apply a time-release odor counteracant in area the area, such as FreshWave IAQ Gel or COC Crystals.
- NOTE: COC Crystals should be placed in trays/bowls and not directly on carpet or furnishings.
- Thermal fog the area using the correct scent:
- Electrical Fires – Kentucky Blue Grass
- Protein Odors – Citrus
- Natural Fires – Neutral (Unscented)
- Tobacco – TabacAttack
- Aggressive/Unknown Odors – Cherry
- If the affected area is very small (such as a closet), you can use thermal fog bombs, such as Big D odor Control Fogger or One Shot.
Warning: Always test materials for colorfastness, follow label directions, and never mix products unless specified in the label directions. Each situation reacts differently and results may vary.
