You Can Buy Now, Pay Later
At the end of the day, every dollar matters when you’re running a business, and sufficient cash flow is critical to run the day-to-day affairs of your operation. Financing can help with that by enabling you to get the equipment you need without taking cash away from your other obligations, like payroll, supplies, fuel, and rent.
Plus, financed equipment also qualifies for the Section 179 tax deduction*. This incentive from the IRS lets businesses expense 100% of the purchase price of new equipment bought or financed in the current tax year. It's a great way to get Uncle Sam to help pay for your equipment.
*Talk to your tax preparer about how you can take advantage of the Section 179 deduction when filing your business taxes.
A concrete floor grinder is a machine used to grind and polish concrete surfaces. It uses diamond abrasives to remove surface coatings, such as epoxy, paint, or adhesive residues, as well as stains and scratches, to create a smooth, polished surface.
Concrete floor grinders range in size, from small handheld grinders, which are ideal for edge or detail work, to large walk-behind grinders, and even bigger ride-on grinders. Each type of grinder is designed for different applications, job size, and productivity levels.
Smaller floor grinders (less than 20” in diameter are ideal for small areas or edgework. While these grinders have their place on the job site, we recommend that professional contractors invest in a larger machine for improved productivity.
Medium-size floor grinders (20-26" in diameter) offer a heavier weight and better productivity. These machines are a great choice for most small to mid-size jobs.
Large floor grinders (30" or greater in diameter) are heavy-duty powerhouses that deliver outstanding productivity rates on larger jobs in commercial spaces, such as warehouse or big retail environments.
While most concrete floor grinders are designed specifically for use on concrete surfaces, some models can be used on stone, marble, terrazzo, or even wood floors. Be sure to check the manufacturer's recommendations before use.
Most small grinders (under 20" in diameter) run on single-phase 110V power. Medium-size grinders (20-26" in diameter) typically run on single-phase 220V power. And large grinders (30" or greater in diameter) run on three-phase 220V or 480V power.
Be sure to check the power connections on your job site. You may need to work with an electrician to wire the connections you’ll need or invest in a generator.
Many contractors love the power and portability of propane grinders. However, some job sites or local ordinances may prohibit their use due to the noise and exhaust they produce. Be sure to check on requirements in your area and follow OSHA regulations regarding the proper storage and handling for propane fuel.
Both wet and dry concrete grinding are acceptable methods for polishing concrete floors, so it often comes down to a matter of professional preference. Dry concrete grinding is ideal for most applications, but especially for coating or adhesive removal. Wet grinding keeps the diamond tooling cooler and prevents concrete and silica dust from becoming airborne but may require additional slurry cleanup.
Yes. OSHA requires that you use an appropriately sized dust collector with an internal filter cleaning mechanism for dust control while grinding. A HEPA-filtered dust collector is required when cleaning dust in between passes. These requirements are designed to protector workers’ health from silica dust exposure.
The hardness of the concrete will determine the type diamond tooling you will need to use. The softer the concrete, the harder the abrasive you will need, while harder concrete requires softer abrasives. We recommend investing in a Mohs Scale Test Kit to determine the concrete hardness before grinding.
The level of use and the hardness of the concrete being worked on will determine how often you will need to replace the tooling. You will need to inspect the abrasive at regular intervals replace it when it is worn down.
